The summer program at Atlanta Montessori International School is 8 weeks of fun and learning for students who have a wide range of interests. Browse our schedule of programs here and reserve your spot today.
We offer full day camps for children from 3 years old to 12 years old in arts, humanities, sciences, and more! Camps are from 8:15 AM until 3:00 PM, with before and after care options provided from 7:30 AM through 6:00 PM.

Pull-Out Camps
Textile Adventures
Students, ages 6 and up, will learn a variety of interesting textile applications by doing fun art projects such as silk painting, Nuno felting, and Shibori dying. Ceramics
Students, ages 6 and up, will each create a scene that includes their most memorable summer experiences. Working with rolled out clay they will draw and cut out pieces of clay that tell their story. Comic Book
Students, ages 6 and up, will create and design their own cartoon comic book characters, supporting cast and plot lines. This camp will occur during Week 3 (6/17 – 6/21) and Week 7 (7/15 – 7/19) from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Please review this flyer for additional information about this special camp. Playball
Playball offers a variety of sport and movement programs for children. At Playball, children will learn persistence, courage, responsibility, teamwork, self worth, and numerous other attributes. This camp takes place after the curriculum has ended and begins around 3:00 PM. Please visit Playball for information about this special camp. Primary Themes (Ages 3-6)
Artistic Inspiration
We are excited to welcome Jenny Loftin for most of our Artistic Expressions camps. Campers will find expression through a variety of different mediums. Instruction will be given regarding proper usage of tools and techniques, creating a platform for self-discovery.
The Early Bird Gets the Bookworm
This camp will focus on projects connected to a different book each day. Smell flowers like Ferdinand, find your own grouchy ladybug, busy spider, or hungry caterpillar. Reading as well as storytelling will be explored.
Karl Drake Irish Dancing
AMIS is excited to welcome Karl Drake to our summer camps! Drake School of Irish Dance is known around the world for performance and choreography. Led by Karl Drake, with over 20 years of experience, campers will learn the basics of Irish dancing from a true master. Don’t miss this opportunity for exposure to an intricate art form with roots going back over 2,000 years. This camp is for children ages 4-6 only.
Lollapalooza
When given a variety of loose materials, what will you create? In this free-form camp, campers exercise their creative visions with access to everything from bottle tops to golf balls. Get ready to make things that exist only in this single sliver of space and time.
Collaboration Station
Working together is the name of this game. Campers will create work in either small groups or as one large group. Emphasis will be on facilitating process over product.
How Did You Make That?
In this Maker’s Camp, children will be provided with a variety of materials, bringing to life ideas from their minds. Materials will be sourced throughout the week to reflect the interests of the camp. Time will be taken to reflect with campers on their work and how they created it.
Messy Mysteries
Getting dirty is SO. MUCH. FUN. Whether it is exploring slime in the classroom or wallowing around in a mud pit outside, this is the camp for explorers. Bring a change of clothes. And shoes. Every day.
Under the Ground
This camp will take a closer look at those things that wiggle, creep and crawl about under the ground. Campers will go out to the garden and the playground to dig up worms, grubs, and larvae for examination. How can things breathe underground? How many different kinds of things live in the garden? How can we care for them? No question is too vast for our team of researchers. Focus will be on how things in the ground live closely together, and how that translates into grace and courtesy in our camp.
Peaceful Education
This camp will be led by a Montessori-trained guide and have structured work cycles. Enrolling for a month block is encouraged. Spanish Immersion: Los Animales
Campers will reinforce Spanish through games, songs, dance, and exploration of other countries. Campers spend each week immersed in an exciting part of the Hispano American world-English is not used in this camp. Elementary Themes (Ages 6-12)
Fairies and Dragons and Power Tools
Dragons have officially been added to this hands-on and empowering camp! Whether it is drawing dragons, making woodland creature doors and paintings, or creating a mystical landscape in a jar, there is something for everyone. Campers will work to spread magic throughout.
Hiking
Nathalie Blanchard returns as the guide for one of our most popular and active camps for older children. Get up and get out! Campers will explore area parks for day hikes. Reflections and sketching will be encouraged. This camp will be predominantly an outdoor camp. This camp is for children ages 9-12 only.
International Cooking
Nathalie Blanchard returns to guide children’s culinary skills in a camp that will tickle the taste buds. Campers will enjoy going off-site to purchase ingredients to prepare international cuisine in the classroom. The best part is eating what you have prepared! Food is an integral part of understanding culture. The camp will take place in a room with a full kitchen-the possibilities are endless. Children will have input in the menu and be responsible for the preparation of the cuisine. This camp is for children ages 8-12 only.
Make a Difference
Volunteering and service are at the heart of this camp created by Nathalie Blanchard. Embrace an opportunity to change the world! Whether it is cleaning up a park, gardening for the Food Bank, or volunteering in a senior center, you can CHANGE THE WORLD. All participants will receive a letter on AMIS letterhead at the conclusion of camp confirming their volunteer hours. This camp is for children ages 8-12 only.
Gymnastics
Kamilah Jones-Norman returns this year from Airborne Gymnastics Club to teach floor gymnastics skills like turns and leaps, jumps, cartwheels, round-offs, handstands with forward rolls, and balancing. Campers will also do arts and crafts, have unstructured time outside, play games, and do team-building activities. This camp is for children ages 6-10 only.
Drama
In partnership with Synchronicity Theater and Taryn Carmona, campers will learn the different aspects of putting on a play, from scenery and set design to costuming and lines. Participants are encouraged to stretch their imagination in their creation of a dramatic world. The play will be written and staged by the campers, culminating in a performance.
Children in the City
Briana Bell returns for her second year leading an offsite Elementary camp! Children will visit at least one defining location in Atlanta each week (the zoo, the aquarium, the Federal Reserve, etc.) along with additional mini-field trips (Centennial Park, Old Fourth Ward, the Beltline, etc.). Space is limited as transportation is provided via the school van.

Puppetry, Stop-Motion and Photography
AMIS introduces a new twist on our photography camp this year by introducing puppetry and stop-motion to a strong photography curriculum. Natasha Berrios, current AMIS Primary lead guide, will guide the children in a puppetry workshop in the mornings. Afternoons will focus on photography with Brook Hewitt. Brook started a photography business in 2009, a lifelong dream. An even bigger dream was realized when she began teaching children. She teaches photography and photojournalism as an afterschool activity and as a summer camp. This camp is for children ages 8-12 only.
Mindfulness
Anita Bullock-Morley has been a Speech-Language Pathologist working in Atlanta since 2001. This camp will offer a variety of mindfulness concepts and breathing techniques. Campers will do a variety of activities, breathing techniques, role-playing, games, art, and discussion. We have open-ended play opportunities where situations that may need social or peer support will be offered to guide campers to success and use these tools in real experiences. This camp is for children ages 7-10 only.
Epic Spanish Immersion and Musical Extravaganza
This is Andrea and Isabel’s excellent Spanish and musical adventure! Teaming up for the first time in the history of summer camp, these two legends in their fields will each bring deeper learning in both subjects. Enrolling for a month block is encouraged. Primary STEM Camp (Ages 3-6)
Junior Astronaut
Three, two, one…blast off! It’s time to fall in line for astronaut training! Campers dive in by earning their helmets and jet packs as they discover what it takes to make it in outer space. Next up: Escape Earth’s gravity to explore the Sun, the Moon, and many of the solar system’s interesting features. From launching Alka-Seltzer rockets to creating satellite spinners, budding space explorers learn the ropes as they prepare to take off to infinity and beyond!
Junior Engineer
Calling all inventors, builders, designers and dreamers! From wing designs to clothespin cars, curious camper minds discover what it takes to be an engineer. Throughout the week we explore engineering disciplines ranging from aerospace to electrical, with little hands working on innovative projects that engage and amaze. Curious kids explore how engineers problem solve to address environmental crises, use nature to inspire inventions, and complete complex circuits to light up the night sky.
Junior Mathemagicians
Math is a part of our everyday lives. Making math fun is easy and this week in camp we will participate in a variety of math activities that will make camp enjoyable as well as educational. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, money, fractions and geometry are all concepts that will be explored. Homemade pretzel shape snacks are a fun way to incorporate geometry and cooking! Fraction bingo, play store, infinity tiles, multiplication dice are all games the campers will play! Skittles patterns, composing number flowers, geometry 3D challenge cards and even a DIY abacus will keep the children engaged while learning.
Junior Physicist
Unlock the forces that drive our universe! From mastering matter to exploring fundamental forces, future-physicists learn through hands-on projects such as designing a gravity maze and constructing a kaleidoscope. Topics like magnetism, density, and friction come alive! Kids love rocking out on their homemade rubber guitar and going for the high score on their DIY pinball game. Through exploration of exciting physics concepts, kids develop a better understanding of nature and the world around them.
Elementary STEM Camp (Ages 6-12)
Coding and Digital Design
Join us at the crossroads of coding and digital design! In this camp kids explore how technology has revolutionized video production, website design, 3D modeling and more. Our young, inspired thinkers use software to create their own logos, “photoshop” pictures to produce exciting visual effects, and generate three dimensional virtual representations of their unique product ideas! Balancing design with coding, campers use MIT’s Scratch to increase their understanding of logic and programming.
Kids Crime Lab
Join the CSI team as we investigate the mysteries of the living world through forensic biology. Designed as a suspense-building “whodunit” experience, Kids Crime Lab guides campers through the discovery of clues and the tackling of challenges tied to topics such as cellular structure and DNA. From bacterium to blood type, kids learn how to interpret data and draw conclusions necessary to crack the case. Secret message glasses, microscopes, and DIY lab kits are just a few of the CSI tools that campers create and take home for further crime scene investigations!
Wacky World of Aircraft
It’s time for takeoff! The adventure begins with a steep climb to cruising altitude as our aspiring pilots learn the fundamentals of unpowered, subsonic, and supersonic flight. Campers earn their wings building their own aircraft ranging from paper airplanes to balsa models. The week would not be complete without a study of VTOL (Vertical Take-Off & Landing vehicles) and remotely operated aircraft. Our pilots wrap up the voyage by assembling their own rubberband powered helicopters and experimenting with hand sensing drones!
High Voltage Heroes
Amplify your child’s interest in electronics as they power their inner hero! Through an understanding of circuit components and the flow of electricity, campers arm themselves with the knowledge to create super gadgets that save the day. From series and parallel circuits to capacitors and electromagnetic motors, the nanoscopic world of fast-moving electrons brings superheroes to life. With projects such as creating a customized light-up superhero mask and building a scale model “heromobile” of their very own, kids feel charged up and ready to take on any challenge.
